Congressman Steve Scalise Shot at Alexandria, Virginia, Baseball Park

WASHINGTON — House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was among at least two people shot Wednesday morning during a GOP baseball practice at an Alexandria, Virginia, ball field, NBC News confirmed.
He was in stable condition, said two different senior-level GOP aides. One source said the Republican lawmaker was wounded in the hip area.

Reportedly, the gunman asked whether they were Democrat or Republican before opening fire a few minutes later. In a strange way, this may have the effect of dampening the over-the-top rhetoric coming from the democrats, because next time, it may be them in a copycat event.

The only reason the Capitol Hill police were even there was because as someone in leadership (Majority Whip) Scalise gets to have a security detail with him.Without that, it would have been a lot worse.

Thankfully this was not a skilled marksman also. Apparently he fired nearly or more than 50 shots. This is horrible.

the people shot were practicing for tomorrow's game at Nationals Park, proceeds going to charity. This is sick.

Rep Ron DeSantis said that as he and other people were in a car readying to leave the practice, a man came over and asked who was playing at the field, repubs or dems.
Later, after they had left and then had heard about the shooting, he reported the person to the police as an FYI. He admits he didn't get a great look at the person and had no idea if it was the same person who did the shooting, as it was an open community field and there were lots of people there.
Some of the media have twisted DeSantis' report that it was the shooter who talked to them, but that is unconfirmed. DeSantis also said the person who talked to them was in running clothes, while it's now reported the shooter was in jeans.

Terry mcauliffe said we lose 95 million people a day to gun violence during the breifing. He actually said that more than once on camera.
Take the rhetoric out, moron (not to mention wildly inaccurate info). Just please give the facts of the incident

This morning's Alexandria, VA shooter has been identified as 66-year-old James Hodgkinson of Belleville, Ill. His Facebook page shows he was a Bernie Sanders supporter and a Trump hater.

The shooter is originally from Belleville, IL.
The shooter is alive but in grave condition, according to the latest news I heard on radio.
This shooting was a deliberate attempt to kill Republicans. Got that, all you Democrats, liberals, progressives and haters in the media that drum up assorted falsehoods, outright lies and virulent anger -- the base of the Democrat Party.
The shooter's Facebook page was loaded with anti-Trump rhetoric, along with numerous rants and postings about hating and ridding the country of Republicans.
This was another act of violence by a liberal against conservatives or perceived conservatives. This was not an 'anti-government' murder attempt. It was strictly anti-GOP.
