Hellmers-Baffert interview

In one of his earlier videos (Episode 2) Christian Hellmers pretty strongly intimated that Justify was juiced. Apparently Baffert got wind of that and invited Hellmers to his barn to discuss it.

It's about Gamblers losing their money?

You begin with the sudden deaths and work your way to the present.

https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-rac...sting-proposal

Arthur continued to point out the need for out-of-competition testing because "races are won in training," where he said doping is most effective.

"Everyone also knows when we are going to test the horses—right after the race," he said. "That is pretty easy to plan around if you are bent on cheating. ... Here is the question for this board and the leaders in this sport—do you want a real anti-doping program or not? Bluntly, without an (out-of-competition) program with teeth, you won't have one."

I watched the whole thing, and Hellmers didn't get around to asking the "hard questions" he promised at the start.

I like him but he was out of his element. But, I have to give it to Baffert for inviting him.

That was great. Baffert Christian Hellmers did an extremely nice job.

I recommend to go to Minutes 27:20 to 28:20 for an entertaining look at Abel Tasman. Good job to the camera man. Abel Tasman never takes her eye off the camera. Cute.

There's red lights and there's green lights.

Have you ever almost been late, because you kept catching every red light?

I drive a used camry.

When you drive the revenue, I don't know if it's the new GPS stuff or some kind of app, but it's amazing how many green lights you hit.

Hellmers looked like a nervous, intimidated kid interviewing his idol for his high school newspaper. He got hooked into a Baffert self promotion and looked like he was there to apologize (which he did a couple of times) for having raised the issue of PEDs, which was the reason Baffert invited him for the interview.
If he wants to pass for a journalist he needs to take control of the interview and not be afraid to ask some hardball questions and follow up on the answers rather than timidly accepting them.

That went from a hard hitting expose of PEDs in the racing industry to a Bob Baffert infomercial in about 63 seconds.

So, according to Baffert, the drug controversy in the game can be directly traced to the "disgruntled gambler"...who must come up with a convenient excuse for losing his money. Is that right? (because I couldn't stay awake past the 7-minute mark of this interview.)

People ask whether Wilt would be good in today's era.

It's not Michael J. Fox. It's not Doc.

Wilt, with his ego, may be 30lbs more (muscle) than his playing weight, in today's era.

It's not a DeLorean.

He’s the next Mike Wallace…… Baffert finally broke down and spilled his guts: he uses ice packs on his horses after a race or workout…... FBI investigation coming.

You made it longer than I did! I didn't suffer the infomercial.
