Gelding Reporting

Del Mar just scratched a horse for not having correct information about gelding in the program.

About time.
There is absolutely no good reason to not have this information accurately reported. Let this bone-head trainer explain to his owner why his horse can't run today.

Should make it a 90 day suspension for the horse.

Trainer Lynn Cleborad explained all those rules to me one day, standing out at the rail at OP, while waiting for her horse to run. At that time I did not know about reporting requirements on geldeds and all that, it was very nice of her to *educate* me. She is a very nice gal, BTW.

The horse would probably love the vacation.
If we are to have rules, then we must enforce them.
Especially simple rules. The trainer works for the owner - so the owner is responsible to ensure the rules are followed. He does this through the trainers.
So if the trainers cost them money, it is the owner's burned to correct - by accepting the penalty of finding a competent trainer.

No horse will be penalized if trainers simply follow the rules.
Any trainer who cannot, should not be training.
And reporting a gelding is not rocket science.

He who owns the horse is ultimately the responsibly party. Period.
High time owners got reminded of that.

It took balls to scratch that horse.

Oh no wait, it didn't.

This rule was like 6 years in the making. The TOC and the CTT were against scratching. But the CHRB finally relented and did the right thing.

Funny factoid...... Not sure how many years ago it was but this issue was a hot button issue before. Believe it or not Bo Derek called me when she was on the board about this issue. I said the only solution is to scratch. She obviously didn't listen back then but I can now say I talked to Bo Derek about gelding horses. Crazy stuff.

Freakin' LOL.

The horse doesn't know it's being penalized, but the owner paying 3 months of bills while his horse is busting the stall door down sure would be.

The last name I thought I would see mentioned in this thread is Bo Derek. The stewards did the right thing here, and it happened in California. The CA stewards an on fire now, with a streak of 1 for 1. Can they keep it going?

No sense in punishing the owners further here, fine the trainer and move on.
