Wow!

We've not seen even $3.10 yet in Reno.

However, Beth filled up this morning and was amazed to find that it cost only $37 to fill the tank.

Yeah, was $1.82 last night at Walmart/Murphy's, and $1.92 tonight, same station.

went up another ten cents to $1.93. I've been following oil prices, and gas is going up much faster than oil. Looks like profit taking by big oil. Oh well, I have several oil stocks, so what one hand taketh away, the other giveth.

How can there be a 40-cent per gallon difference within a 10-mile radius? And we are talking same state.

How come when the price of oil was $45/barrel, my gas was $1.68/gallon, but now that it is at $48/barrel, my price for gas is $2.19???

Oil went up 6%, but gas went up 30%.

gasoline always goes down in December and January because there is less demand and they are using more heating oil.

gasoline is done going down until November

Also, the trend has always been, quick to rise and slow to drop.
Bottom line, oil companies pretty much do what they want to meet their profit demands. It's not always through gasoline sales, but that's the logical place to get it.
In the late 70's when gasoline prices started to take off, word was that the government wanted a huge interest in price regulation. In a matter of weeks we had long lines at the pumps. Was blamed on the oil embargo. Right, like the supply would dry up that fast.
Doesn't pay to piss the oil companies off.

by Minneapolis unleaded regular $2.24

I saw some E85 last week for $1.85 and remember mixing some in for my older car a few years ago

After reading this, even though it was a bad idea before, I probably won't do that again

Gas around here (60 miles SE of Dallas) went back up as high as $2.29 but since has dropped down to $2.16 at Walmart/Murphy's. I believe the lowest price here, before the recent rise was $2.02. We never broke the $2 barrier.

So, $2.16 at Murphy's but $2.28-2.29 everywhere else around here.

I see lots of stations in NJ (mostly central and south) at $1.99 to $2.05. One station still sells at $1.91 in Metuchen. Price hasn't moved in about 1 month. And yes, he is open. But I have seen a downward trend the last week.

Is that because Saudi Arabia has started war against Iran backed rebels in Yemen? With Russia, US, South America,... what percent of world oil market is actually Middle east now? I realize at a time it was probably well over 50% (60%? 70%?) but new exploration and extraction techniques has found more reachable reserves in many places.
