Yes, but to be fair there was nothing to run at. In the Derby he will have a pace to run at. Think he's solid to be in the superfecta.

With that many horses the start is always chaotic with a lot of luck good and bad involved.

Agree with you, the dynamics did not favor him. I just disagreed Aarons opinion that he was given a race. He tried very hard, Bolt knows no other way.

They asked D Wayne Lukas on the pre draw show if he could get any post he wanted which would it be and he said 14 because of the space between the gates ....

Lukas must have missed last year's Kentucky Derby.
Post 14 was filled by the morning line favorite, Classic Empire. He got clobbered a few strides out of the gate when ne'er-do-well took a left hand turn from post 17 causing a chain reaction.

...and then jumped onto another horse for the derby.
That whipping was atrocious for an experienced racehorse who gives his all, and Bolt had enough points to make the gate, so still not sure why Castellano was trying to empty him out.
