Adam Smith - "People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices."

And to think , he figured that out without benefit of Internet or G00gle.

The signal to noise ratio was a lot better back then.

What an amazing coincidence. Over the last few weeks, Trump's good buddy and sometime advisor, billionaire investor Carl Icahn, sold off $30 million of stock in a heavy equipment manufacturer that is highly dependent on imported steel.

Quote:
Carl Icahn sold about $30 million of shares in crane manufacturer Manitowoc Co. in the weeks before President Trump said he would impose new tariffs on U.S. steel imports.

The billionaire investor sold more than a third of his stake in the Manitowoc, Wisconsin-based company, which has a sizable exposure to U.S. steel imports, from Feb. 12 through Feb. 22, according to a regulatory filing last Friday. Icahn remains Manitowoc’s fifth-largest holder with about 4.8 percent of the company’s common shares.

The company, along with Terex Corp., Oshkosh Corp. and Hyster-Yale Materials Handling Inc., was downgraded to neutral from outperform by Baird analyst Mircea Dobre on Friday. Dobre said the tariffs are a “broad negative” for users of steel in the machinery industry.

No, it actually didn't. Or the admin before. Or the admin before. Or ever, really.

This level of political dumpster fire is truly unprecedented.

The only upside? When Trump is only an embarrassing footnote in a couple yrs (or less), there's going to be an avalanche of books written by people who were truly witness to it..

Incensed until they need something.
Make it perfectly clear, going against us mean 0 foreign aid for any reason at any time. 0 help if attacked, if Putin decide to take more land, tough shitski.

You are either with us or against us.

I know if we all try, we can somehow get by with the friendship of.......Switzerland. With friends like the Swiss, who needs enemies?

The best way to look at this is that globalist hollowed out these United States giving socialist country's the best outlook. Now it is time to hollow out those who benefited during those years.

Trump is basing the "need" for the new tariffs on national security.

Quote:
On the steel front, domestic production is little changed from that of 20 or 30 years ago, and the U.S. military requires a mere 3 percent of this to meet its needs. Of the top 10 foreign suppliers of steel, meanwhile, China does not feature and six are countries with whom the United States has mutual defense arrangements.

Regarding aluminum, the Commerce Department admits that “defense-related products” require only 10 percent of U.S. domestic production. The No. 1 source of imports in 2016, meanwhile, was NATO-ally Canada, which accounted for more aluminum imports than the next 11 biggest sources combined.

Little wonder that Secretary of Defense James Mattis is said to be among those in the administration opposed to these tariffs and recently authored a memo expressing concern about the impact of their broad use on key allies.

Brilliant logic.

Or they sell stuff to other nations like China. Russia.

With friends like Trump who needs enemies to use your logic...

This is his unprovoked move. We're the shitty country in this story.

Give me one net benefit to the American people by this action?

Donald J. Trump has all the discretion he needs in the area of trade to reshape all trade deals to bilateral and reciprocal.
