Coronavirus halts Ohio racing

The Ohio State Racing Commission has announced that horse racing at all Ohio racetracks is officially cancelled effective immediately from March 20 through March 27.

Looks like only Saratoga and Cal Expo are left racing.

Saratoga

Saratoga Casino Hotel will suspend live racing following their racecard on Sunday (March 22), due to COVID-19 precautions.

The only harness track racing this week is Cal Expo. They have said that they'll schedule cards for Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon.

They still do have a sire stakes program but it's very weak. They race maybe 3 or 4 times a year for purses of $7,000. A lot of the races are non betting because the only have 3 or 4 horses. But at least the west coast still has harness racing.

they were handling some decent money last night at Los Alamidas. i heard they were over $200k in their pick 4 pool.

this just goes to show you that people will bet on anything, all they want is action.

The casino website for Will Rogers Downs indicates that the casino is closed. Not clear if the track is running their card today without fans. Anyone know for sure?

Could it be that Fonner Park is the only game in town today?

The California horse racing board wouldn't allow the change from Friday- Saturday to Tuesday-Wednesday. Cal Expo wasn't trying to race more dates just change the dates. Good work by the horse racing board messing this up.
