Working-class whites are the biggest beneficiaries of federal poverty-reduction programs, even though blacks and Hispanics have substantially higher rates of poverty, according to a new study to be released Thursday by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

That's because non-whites saw welfare as a career opportunity, as Tom suggested. But their careers were cut short by government rules and regs.

Where is the survey showing how many of the white beneficiaries were actually GOP voters?

But even if the majority of them were/are, this demonstrates the very different mindsets between whites and non-whites in terms of how they view welfare benefits. As Tom has said (essentially), it appears whites, generally, are not interested in making a career out of welfare addiction.
