Rained out of golf today. Went to see Spider-Man. Was actually impressed. Pretty damn good.

Talk about polar opposites!

I think it's funny that GGR (along with some other pretty good, and pretty bad films), seem to be relegated to 'cult classics'.
Best scene in GGR was everyone's favorite Trump impersonator Alec Baldwin who comes in to "motivate" the sales reps.Funny how things come full circle.

Also this scene was not in the original play but written especially for the film.

Be forewarned the language is quite salty: Ed Harris joked that the movie should be called "Death of a Fu**ing Salesman"

Watched another film with the same writer (David Mamet), "The Verdict".

Hadn't seen this one yet.

Solid movie. Wasn't my favorite movie ever, but there was substance, and quality. Was free on Netflix, so I gave it a shot.

I would also recommend "The Spanish Prisoner", written and directed by Mamet.

Politics have nothing to do with it. The reason box office numbers are down is Hollywood is making lousy movies. It's July and the only decent movies so far have been Beauty and the Beast and Wonder Woman. I'm hoping Dunkirk will break the trend later this month. In the fall there's Blade Runner and Star Wars 8 but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Meanwhile who came up with the idea to ...
  • Make Spider Man a spoiled brat?
  • Make Optimus Prime the villain?
  • Let the aliens win?

It just gets funnier every day. But I guess they are sort of right. People like myself have removed 'going to the movies' as something to do. I also used to go to a Broadway play on occasion. Those ships have sailed.

I have no intention of paying these millionaire liberals to lecture me on their socialist political views. I have no intention of paying a Broadway actor who comes out of character to lecture the Vice President of the United States sitting in the theater.

Thank God for the racetracks. I'm sure there liberals among them, but the horse people don't give political speeches in the winners circle.
Made that same decision months ago. You and I are absolutely not alone, either!!

Trump had nothing to do with it, but the bulk of the so-called entertainment industry sure did!

I think you are partially correct. The quality of stuff coming out of Hollywood is terrible.

But, who wants to sit through a movie with people talking either to each other, or on their cellphone? And, the lifestyles reflected in the movies encourage this type of behavior.

And, why would I want to give my money to a bunch of actors, directors, et al, who brazenly and blatently attack and assault the President of the United States? For many of my friends, it's both the hedonistic, debaucheristic way of life reflected in the movies as well as the political assaults by Hollywood.

Mike I agree with you 100% these Hollywood whackos will finally start understanding through their wallet that America DOES NOT CARE OF THEIR OPINIONS!!!! They might think that the majority of Americans idolize them and enjoy their political opinions, but it appears that is not the case.
