Message to the Improbable team
A: consider a turf sprint race for Improbable; based on the Dam, a
a 6fg-8.0 FG distance makes sense, at least to me.
Even if Improbable ran poorly, (which I doubt) you might see an improved
performance in his next performance.
Would love to see him run at Saratoga
Dreaming on......

Have to change trainers, Baffert just cannot train a turf horse in my book.
His owners covet dirt racing wins over turf racing wins.

I think he is probably suited to shorter, but this horse has nothing to gain by running in turf sprints. He's already a G1 winner routing on dirt. If he is going to run at Saratoga, it should be in the Jerkens.

Can't fix what goes on in his head by going short on the turf.

He has run very well at 9 furlongs. Could be a Whitney contender. Has more prestige too.

I'll grant that the older horses aren't much this year, but I"m not sure he's a horse I'd take seriously against older at this point. In addition to just not running that great this year, he's a head case as tee already mentioned.

So because this horse beat a sprinter and four no hopers at 1/9 on a quarter horse track, he's instantly made as a Classic distance stallion?

How do you come up with that response to what Craig posted?

You have a point there. Whitney would definitely be mistake. Was forgetting the age issue in a senior moment.
He ran well this year before the Derby, earning good figures despite wide trips. His last couple could be just as likely a tailing off as distance limitations. I think his Preakness failure at just half a furlong more than his 9 furlong races was as much a form as a distance issue. They could try him in the Jim Dandy with the Travers a possibility if he runs well. He would be just as much a head case in sprints as routes.

Throwing a fit in the gate just before they opened didn't help his cause, then going four wide in the second turn was the final nail in the coffin. Wide trips, sloppy tracks and Omaha Beach has been his downfall this spring.

He also threw a fit in the gate at the Arkansas Derby.

I don't think his race was quite as bad as it looks, but he either doesn't want to go long, is not developing much, or a little of both. He should probably be freshened up a little and started over with maybe something like the BC Mile as a long term objective if he starts moving forward enough to be competitive at that level as a mid distance runner.

He said "He's already a G1 winning router on dirt." That suggests that that is an accomplishment.

He said nothing about a Classic distance, nor did he address the horse's potential as a stallion. He did imply the horse might do well in a 7-furlong stake at Saratoga.
