Fire at Will's daddy ran very well on dirt in the BC Classic, in fact he damn near won the race. So it will be interesting to see how he will handle the dirt. He did break his maiden, on the dirt, albeit slop and a short field. Interesting race, the FOY, but with the short stretch, I'll wait until the Florida Derby, before I truly evaluate the Florida preps.

Essential Quality
Midnight Bourbon
Greatest Honour

Trainers like Baffert & Pletcher wait longer and longer to have their horses start earning points. I think this is the year that deserving horses get shut out because they falter in a "must win" race.
I do feel horses need to run more to build a more solid foundation before trying 10 furlongs in early May.

I like Greatest Honour.........he looks/acts like a good thing........I see the whole Orb thing starting to play out in this guy.
Sneak dude......Crowded Trade........I have no doubt this is a Grade 1 horse waiting to happen.

Both winner’s today looked pretty sharp and will use in some fashion in the next future pool. Will see how Baffert’s best runs next week. Feels like a lot of separation at this time after those two or three.

For the Prevalence fans out there:
He looked good winning @ GP on Thursday.
Handled the 8 furlongs just fine......it was obvious he had a clear class level edge over the field.
Not sure where he goes next........he appears to be a classy colt.

Keepmeinmind is the horse to watch between now and the derby, and on derby day you will find KEEPMEINMIND in the winners circle. He does not have to win The Rebel tomorrow, but just another stepping stone to Derby day.
This horse can close from anywhere in a race will now race much closer up in races.

Not what I was looking for, might just not be as good as some of the speedballs that are getting ready for the derby.

So Baffert runs 1-2 in 2 preps. With 2 front runners winning. Who’s the derby closer?

How can ANYONE accurately project performance in March at 8.5f, of how a maturing three year old will do at 10 panels the first Saturday of May?
Too much change awaits them all.
