Chuck Muncie

Pretty good running back from the late 70s and early 80s died today. Had a 19 TD season in 1981. RIP.

Real good player who just happened to be playing when Walter Payton, Earl Campbell and Tony Dorsett were grabbing most of the headlines.

I think the thing that struck me most about him when I first saw him was that he wore glasses while playing. I couldn't recall any other football players who had done that. (Maybe I just have a bad memory.)

He grew up and played High School ball about 15 miles from me. One of many top ball players from the area. He died way too young. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

He was Eric Dickerson before Eric Dickerson.

I wore glasses at a very young age in the 70s, and despite living in Buffalo Bills country, I became a Miami Dolphins fan because of Bob Griese wearing glasses..

Chuck Muncie was one of the most talented backs I've ever seen. Had it not been for his drug troubles he would've been one of the all-time greats.

Always loved the way he ran, probably my 2nd favorite " unsung rb " behind Larry Brown.
