Benner Island at 12-1 is a little generous. Seems like she can run from anywhere, just not entirely sure how much she can run from anywhere.

Love how Benner got knocked to 6-1...
Apparently, no pool is too large to have huge late odds moves.
And BTW, Mike Smith almost blew it with that huge move before they hit the stretch, but class won out there I suppose...

Still don't think the rail is good. Abel Tasman is just a better horse

Lessons learned this weekend - California horses AND riders make East Coast look silly. When Smith ride, take notes.
Nice of Castellano to come off the rail and let a real rider have it.

8 Salty should have been more rewarding than the 3.
Tough odds there all the way around.
Didn't bet this race individually, used 3578 to survive.
3 actually paid better in doubles, hope that is true in pk3s, as well

Yeah what was that? I was posting at 1 MTP and was still 12-1, I think, when I was typing. It couldn't have taken me very long to put up all that wisdom.

Race 5
Why bet?
Just watch Mikey climb up the jockey standings as he schools the locals.
Keep your eyes on Songbird - she might be a big horse in the gate, but as they run, she gets smaller and smaller.

You think coming off the rail, while in a full drive, while the winner was moving effortlessly cost her the 6 or 7 lengths she was beat?

Assuming the winner would not have gotten by, then possibly.

I have more of an issue (albeit a small one) with the ride in the Phipps instead of the Acorn. When he got on even terms around the turn I would've loved to see Castellano go for it and send hard. I don't think it would've mattered either way but maybe he could've gotten a little separation and made Songbird have to go get them.

Hoping that Loose On The Town gets to 8-1 and stays there or goes higher. This seemed like a pretty tough spot to fall in love with anyone or to settle on a short price and seemed like this lightly raced guy threaded the needle a little bit. He's run big races, he's also run awful ones. But his turf races are all solid and from the rail - he may need to be fastest in a race that seems to feature an awful lot of stalker/closer types. More than likely needs to not only get an ideal trip and pace, but also improve a little if some of the others run their best races, respectively. But, it is his third back off of a rest and the midst of a good run, so it is hardly inconceivable to think that he's likely to peak out here and that is part of the reason that he's here at all.
