Don’t get it either. The only thing I’m upset about is the state of this game. That race is now a 3 million, grade 3. Look at the entrants.

Furthermore, it’s not science but the evidence and common theme here is these horses are not sound. It’s not the Lasix or the whip, the track or voodoo for that matter. There is clearly a problem with these horses legs. What are they gonna do now? Breed more Omaha Beaches? Hurt every 3 races. Lesser horses don’t get the scrutiny or rest . Start with biologist and breeding experts cause every day it gets more obvious. You got a soundness problem . Most likely genetic.

By the way where’s the supposed derby winner....... hasn’t raced since May. This just gets sad forget about mad .

We better start introducing some new blood it sees like inbreeding is over the top these days

Don't feel bad. I had over 100 horses in my virtual stable, so decided to parse thru them before oaklawn starts. Can you believe I deleted almost 2/3 of them.....because they are no longer racing........so many horses at 3, 4 and 5 years old, already "done" ......can't make it past 5. I think there was one that was still racing who was 6. It was quite sobering. I also wondered where did they all *go*???

Question about GP Turf rails

I see that Saturday, the early turf races will be either 36 or 96 feet for the rails. But the later races show no distance, so I am guessing that means 0 feet.

Is it common, or even possible, for them to take down a full set of rails during a card? Do they do this for big stakes races?

I never play GP, so I have no idea what they do there, aside from mis-timing races.

Tom, it’s not on GP website yet. Best to check there. Sometimes their can be a change that is not listed by Equibase.

100% agree the breeders are destroying the breed.
Breeding baby’s to baby’s is not genetically sound.
They should pass a rule that no horse can breed until 5.

But hey they always do what is best for the horse

Gulfstream has run three different rail settings on the same day before, one of them obviously being zero. The course is wide enough that they don't even have to take rails down! Usually it is like 0, 60, and 120.

Over the weekend they ran on hedge and at 72 feet, and for today's card they had listed 36 feet and 108 feet.

I think that 72 feet is the general distance between courses, I don't think they would run on hedge too, that's pretty skinny course, but I have seen at Arlington where they moved rail between turf races and cut the grass.

As I said, they've run days with 3 rail settings without changing any rails around. You can see it plain as day on the replays. I'll see if I can find one.

Pretty sure the last two are 0 ft. Most of the time the long races are because if the rails are up the start gets moved too close to the first turn.

Well, not really, they just use a 600 foot run up!

(That is actually true )

I see the Pegasus Turf is listed to be run at "about" 9.5 furlongs, something they've never done before. LOL, who runs a race that is supposedly this important at an about distance.

Been looking at this race for a while now, trying to figure out how good Magic Wand is. Did not remember seeing the word "about" in the PP. Of course, its not there. May be the purse is about $1,000,000 also.
