Spielberg was clearly there to be a target for Princess Noor, but at the end of the work when they were BOTH "asked", she dusted him. Spielberg is not as good as some of the fillies she will face today, but he's better than the fillies she's been beating in her races.

in general the speed figs rule
same thing with MSW horses moving up to stakes
or horses trying to train up to races.
but sometimes good trainers and good stock etc yadda yadda... are able skip steps
exception to the rule, or 'tradeoffs' in the models
You see a nice horse, and she has the stamina program, and her works look nice, and trainer has done this dozens of times before....
she's a short price, so nothing wrong with a gamble against
if she wins - it's not a knock on Speed Figs... it's a tip of the hat to a good trainer

It was a day there wasn't a lot of movement in the flow of most races and when some riders seemed to be avoiding the inside (though I called the day as most likely honest).
I've been wondering if she can turn the tables????
If you trust the figures for that race, they would both seem to at least be logical contenders.
I'm also not a giant fan of Simply Ravishing given last out one of the other speeds didn't break and another wasn't used. As impressive as she was, she wound up getting loose and going slow early by default.

I just crushed it!

Nice job.
Looks like kudos to the speed figures, too. Wasn't it NY>KY>CA? Perfect form.
The 2 KY fillies though seemed to run in spots; both looked like they were floundering on the turn but then finished with interest.

Princess Noor is who we thought she was. If you want to crown her ass, crown her!

Simply Ravishing stumbled a bit at the start. That helped Vequest get a perfect pocket trip that helped her today. Last time I thought it hurt her because the outside paths may have been a hair better, the flows were odd that day, and she got beaten to the move.
When Joy's Rocket ran well earlier in the day, I felt more secure in the quality of that race and that the inner path or two may not have been quite as good as outside that Frizette day.
At the prices, I keyed Vequest much heavier, but I had the exacta boxed and used both over a couple of horses. Sometimes everything goes wrong and sometimes the horse gods smile on you. Today they smiled and gave me a good trip. I'm having a very good day all around. I'm cheap speed, but that makes dangerous when loose like this going into tomorrow.
Figures non withstanding, Princess Noor ran worse than I expected. When asked for more, she was empty quickly.

Might be time for you to get an eye test.
Princess Noor will be remembered as the worst favorite in BC history. Terrible on her pps and just as bad on the track.
The figs don't lie....but the "eye test" does.

Says the man that thought Monomoy Girl and Midnight Bisou were both done earlier this year after they ran one slow figure in a race where they finished with plenty left in the tank.
Things aren't always black or white. There is no "always right" answer.
It's extremely difficult to know what a young horse that's been winning easily will do when pushed to a faster pace. Most come up empty. Some are actually better than they look. You run the race and you find out. Again, the difference here was that Princess Noor was "much" slower. So even if she was better than she looked, she might not win. That's a lot to ask of a favorite. Today we learned more about Princess Noor in the same way we sometimes see easy winners step up and reproduce their prior fast figures or run a new top.

This Juvenile has some solid horses.
is a little hot on the board
looks like 7 5
but the 9 Sittin on Go... I mean that was my pick in the Irqous 24-1 that i did on that tricple clowns thing.. i didn't mean to win the juv
but I am keying him underneath in some wagers. He's a nice horse at his proprer class and could get lucky and pick up some pieces...
the 14 has a$#! draw... but he's weird ... he's a million to one and i actually like that horse...
the 11 is a hard hitter
3 is ok ... he could compete
cool race

Didn't Midnight Bisou follow that slow figure up by getting beat by Vexatious before breaking a leg?

I don't like putting too many of my specific bets out there because I'm thin skinned and don't get paid to take abuse like public handicappers when I'm very wrong. Plus, I work so damn hard to find good bets. I'm making a lot more bets this year, but it would still be way less than most people.
