Street Life
Is the consensus that not enough speed exists for him to close into this ...the distance is to his liking.

I think the consensus is that he doesn't have enough speed to get there regardless of how much pace there is.

He'll be on the bottom end of my exotics but not in the win category.
This coming from someone who has supported him in every start from his second maiden attempt.

It's tough to determine which performance was worse: This horse not getting 2nd in the Peter Pan or Union Rags not getting 2nd in the FD. However, I don't know who the jock is for this horse. If Lezcano stays up, he's definitely worth a send-it-in kind of bet. Jose has all that experience riding the renowned hangers Ice Box and Fly Down. He'll definitely put it to use with this one. Well, technically, he already has.

Wow, that's a rough statement; yet true.

Alot of the horses may tire from the extra distance alone. He may be able to get their if he does not leave himself too much ground to make up.How can you toss him?

His workout a few days ago was said to be subpar as he was ridden very hard to get past his workmate who is a maiden. Not what you want to see coming into this kind of race.

Street Life should love the distance but is probably not fast enough.

I thought he did very little running in the Peter Pan until the race was essentially over. Then he closed really well and went out really well after the wire. IMO that's the kind of trip that's great for picking up the pieces, but it's not so great if you are trying to win anything other than a race that collapsed. I don't hate him, but I'm not overly enthusiastic about his chances of winning a race that doesn't look like it's loaded with pace. He's probably a "use" in vertical exotics.

He's not interested in doing anything on the track in the morning, he's just that kind of horse. The only time he picked it up in his work from what I understand is when Paynter tried to come on to him, he wasn't having any of that according to Haskins.

now what exactly does that mean? I love the distance of 1.5 miles too.. but my "fast" will get me there in 10 minutes...

It looks like Street Life just isn't as good as I'll Have Another, Dullahan, Paynter, and Union Rags.
However he did run a career best last time in the Peter Pan. This is a horse I hated in the relatively weak Broad Brush stakes at 8/5 off a maiden.
I thought that in terms of the Peter Pan he ran a pretty cheap third, but I did think that he did some running. Does that make any sense? I thought he did a LOT more running than Good Morning Diva(whos even cheaper closing 4th muddies the chart on Street Life a little), and at one point he was doing some running. His footwork was much improved. I feel that not only the trainer does a good job with moving horses forward, and these type of races with distance and moderate pace, but that the trainer has a sharp understanding of how the dynamics in the Belmont should leave Street Life more in touch with the pace and the favorite.
