Animal Kingdom - Ascot (Queen Anne Stakes)
Animal Kingdom runs on Tuesday June 18th @ 930am ET
He is a short odds favorite for the Queen Anne Stakes, with 4-5 the best price on offer currently in the UK.

Quite a short price but he is an excellent horse whereas the opposition isn't.
I guess he's the star billing of the week, even with Dawn Approach scheduled to run.

Such a weak field this year for the Queen Anne, looks like the race of the meet will be the Prince of Wales

I don't give Animal Kingdom much chance here. I would look to bet-against.
That said, he's one of my favorite horses, and I hope he wins.

Interesting that the books over there will list a horse at 200-1.
I think the Vegas books did away with those kind of prices after the 1999 Rams ruined their season by winning the Super Bowl at 250-1. I wonder what kind of price the UK books had Mine that Bird 4 years ago?

What causes you to say that?
He should hack up here, unless he's not right.

Yes, and they will gladly pay you when these longshots win.
Most often, these books carry liabilities on favorites who are heavily bet.
They will pay 200-1 on a horse they figure is substantially higher in true odds to win the race.
With the percentages set in their favor, sometimes they win no matter who wins the race.
Longshot winners usually bring a smile to the UK bookies faces!

He's the only horse I know in the race, so it's possible he is a legitimate contender if the field is very weak.
It's unlikely that he's a world class turf miler. He also comes off a very fortunate trip in the Dubai World Cup and figures to be underlaid off of that race.

He was an unlucky second behind Wise Dan, but finished in front of Excelebration, widely regarded as the second best miler in Europe last year. That can't be far off world class.

Final race?
Isn't AK retiring after this one?
Think I read that after Dubai.
Seems a strange time of year to call it quits.
If he were mine, I would lay him off for the summer, and aim for the BC Classic.
Maybe give him one prep race before, or train him up to it.
Wouldn't matter - he would win for fun.

Not strange if the horse is going to Australia for breeding.

I agree.
He also finished a close 2nd to Point of Entry despite being moved a bit prematurely. POE had just finished ahead of St Nicholas Abbey who is still a leading player in Europe.
Not that comparisons like this are perfect because there are trips and form cycles involved, but they give you a good enough general line.

AK can most definitely claim to be a world class miler. Finishing 2nd to Wise Dan, while closing light a train after a bad trip, and in front of Exclebration (a horse who would have been a 7 time G1 winner if it wasn't for Frankel) says world class miler in my book.
The southern hemishphere breeding season starts io Sept 1st. Given Australia's very strict quarantine laws, horses have to into quarantine in mid to late July to be ready for Sept. That still leaves him time to run in the Coral Eclipse stakes at Sandown over an extended 10f+ in early July.
