Leo Salles suspended for the rest of Woodbine meet

This seems like very severe suspension. It is his third since last fall for careless riding.

Reports are saying he won't appeal his suspension

Pretty severe, don't you think?

He's on the there.

I can't see well enough from the pan view. I understand that he realized that he was caught against the flow of the race, but even if he was placed a little behind the on the turn, it was also extremely poor tactics to even want to to trade costly ground-loss for for a daylight in the first place. Added the context that he was on a 58/1 shot. Careless ride and an unwise ride.

I mean the punishment. Don't you think the suspension for the entire meet is too much? I've seen Paco Lopez do this on a regular basis and he still rides.

Watch Paco go after the heavy fav. Juliet Foxtrot on the first turn in The Matchmaker last Saturday......dirty to the gills.
He should be banned from horse racing.
Karma kind of caught him later on in the Haskell....

Sorry I was thinking my response was wrong

It is almost always when they see the "lesser known" jockeys do it they will give them a DQ or suspension

But when it's "big name" or "known" jockeys like your example Paco Lopez they won't be as hard or won't do anything about it

Perfect example for harness racing users of this site:
In the Meadowlands Pace when Brett Miller caused interference they placed him from 1st to 9th and declared the 2nd place finisher (Mark MacDonald) the winner

If it were Yannick Gingras or Dexter Dunn or some other big named driver in the states they would have probably said it was an "accident"

Yes they give more leeway to the big name riders

after he took the out, he stopped his silly attempt to go extra-wide-uncovered mid-turn. I don't know whether he realized that he screwed up (the heel-clipping part), or that he realized he screwed up (his horse wasn't doing any significant running while losing extra ground vs. the flow...), but then he cuts back in to where he started!, and nearly drops the !, who then has to dive inside.

I see he has 2 prior suspensions for reckless riding.

That said, I have no 'book' on the guy, and I have no idea whether this bush-league ride was in anyway indicative of his skill level or was an aberration.

For all I know, he could normally be an average rider.

It could be a harsh penalty if he never rides like this, and had a mini-stroke or something here on video. If that is indicative of how he rides, he would want a new career path or life-changing breakthrough in riding /Leo.

He was a little late in pinning the favorite in the pocket there. I would be 1000% fine with it if he moved a step sooner. Not extremely dangerous like the crazy woodbine ride. Not what I would call 'dirty', but if there was a pattern of it (you guys obviously feel there is a pattern w/ Paco) it should be addressed. Do stewards even meet with jocks or at least agents any more?

New shooters appearing on the WB scene:
Shaun Bridgmohan+Antonio Gallardo+Tony Maragh.
Though Maragh probably isn't a good thing.
