BC Sprint

Great edition yesterday of the SA Sprint Championship, aka the Ancient Title in the past. You had both the 2013 Sprint and Dirt Mile winners in the race. Giant race by Goldencents making the big move 4 wide a bit too soon; probably didn't see Rich Tapestry coming to him. Taking nothing away from the winner, who obviously handles dry dirt (he was 2 for 2 on off dirt tracks previously), he had a good trip and dead aim on Goldencents, who I believe clearly ran the superior race.

Why was Secret Circle so heavily bet? Yes he won the 2013 Sprint but with a good trip in a race that really fell apart late. He didn't even earn a triple digit Beyer in that win, and being off for 8 months, it was obviously nothing more than a prep for the Sprint.

Is Goldie definite for the sprint? Watchmaker has him listed as possible for the sprint and dirt mile. Any idea where they're leaning?

I don't know. He's already won the Dirt Mile. Wouldn't a win in another BC race help his stud value? He'd be Gr 1 at 6f, 1m and 1 1/8 miles.

With Doug O'neill suspended someone else will have to take over as trainer of Goldencents.

I think RT is going to be the one to beat in this race. Has the back class and can obviously handle the SA track. Looks like SC will have some company on the front end to keep fractions of 21, 43/44, etc...
