Running the clock out is what judges usually do, makes them look more important.

You can't defy a higher courts ruling as a judge.

It will not be end of his judicial career no matter what the 3rd Circuit does. And no matter how the 3rd circuit rules, it will not be the end of it either. The 3rd circuit could be over ruled too. Anybody thinks they have a handle on how courts will rule is fool. A friend of mine lost over a million dollars settlement because her lawyers told her she could not lose and she believed them.

The only way for sports wagering to move forward is to have congress repel PASPA or have the courts rule this law unconstitutional.
This is the reason that you can hear birds chirping when it comes to sports wagering in the casinos in Atlantic City as they are heavily regulated by the state and that flies in the face of the bill that Christie just signed.

Why do I feel like you are just not getting what is actually transpiring here between the professional sports leagues as well as the NCAA and sports wagering in NJ. The supreme court sent this back to the third circuit they initially ruled and the sports associations sued, the US Court of Appeals upheld their challenge. But the Third Circuit also found that even if NJ could not sponsor or license sports betting by law, NJ was free to repeal any of its own prohibitions on sports betting, as long as it was privately regulated. Now the sports leagues are saying they will be Irreparable harmed in an attempt to have Judge Shipp sign an injunctive relief.

Based on the premise of this case I don't believe a higher court will get to hear this anytime soon, the Supreme Court passed. It is with Judge Shipp now.

Then why are the casinos in Atlantic City having a hands off sports wagering, the only way it works is if the casinos join the party.
Who in their right mind would drive to Monmouth Park just to place a sports bet. With what it cost in gas, parking, tolls etc. you would be laying a lot more then -110 on games.

The casinos are on a wait and see approach. The reason is simple they don't want to invest the necessary funds like William Hill did to get the sw platform up and running at MP to the tune of lots of millions. You bring up who in their right mind will drive there, lots of people looking to see what is actually going on a join the crowd type of thing, lots of media coverage brings out people also. The last time I looked gas prices are down over 26% from last year. Because you think no one will wager isn't a reason it won't be successful.

Casinos have a lot more to offer then Monmouth, after you get beat up on the games at least you can take a shot somewhere else in the casino.
Monmouth is a one trick pony that will soon get old.

As I said before the casinos are regulated by the state so now the bill Christie signed becomes even more foggy.
The casinos are not on a wait and see, any ruling will apply differently to casinos so I expect an even longer drawn out legal battle where the casinos in Atlantic City are concerned.

This sports wagering thing is so over hyped it is laughable. Once football is over the betting handle drops 70% to 80%.
Without the casinos, with all their amenities, sports wagering at locations like Monmouth have as much of a chance of being successful in the long run as me hitting a 15 team parlay.

The only court that can overrule the 3rd court of appeals is SCOTUS and they refused.
Their opinion is the only one that counts.
I am sorry to hear about your friend but this federal court with different rules.

Not unless you got there early and stayed all day watching the games on tv and placing bets on the card. The place will be very crowded, lots of extra people will be there to bet some NFL.

I live assisted living. Nobody here has any money on any the games, but if you come around on Sunday you would find a lot of TVs on tuned to the NFL. No, but what i AM saying is that i'm not a biased observer. They're involved, so you take what they say with a grain of salt..so, even if they "know more" i have no agenda, unlike them.
