I have an older friend who was an officer. He said police unions aren't the same as normal labor unions anymore, and he suspects some have morphed into agencies that seem to protect bad cops.

So yeah, they need to know they can't get away with it.

I don't know if these names you posted are pro-looting and perhaps you are projecting. However, looting has no place in any kind of social or political protest. Or in the society at all. Tase 'em, rubber bullet 'em, tear gas 'em, shoot them in the legs so they fall down. I have zero sympathy for looters.

Anger is good, if expressed appropriately and correctly targeted, you are still in control of yourself.

Conversely, destructive, impulsive, explosive rage is an impulse control problem, which brings harm to others and/or destruction to others' property or person.

(That's what the officer did to Mr. Floyd. That's what the violent protesters are doing back. It's the wrong way.)

Thugs and sociopaths don't care about making society better. They are driven by the need to hurt others.
Thugs? isn't that what Trump called some of these rioters in a tweet?

Cops have been known to riot also, using racial epithet...

https://www.cato.org/publications/co...history-lesson

"Newsday columnist Jimmy Breslin described the racist conduct in chilling detail:

“The cops held up several of the most crude drawings of Dinkins, black, performing perverted sex acts,” he wrote. “And then, here was one of them calling across the top of his beer can held to his mouth, ‘How did you like the ******s beating you up in Crown Heights?’ ”

The off‐duty cops were referring to a severe beating Breslin suffered while covering the 1991 Crown Heights riots in Brooklyn.

Breslin continued: “Now others began screaming … ‘How do you like what the ******s did to you in Crown Heights?’

“ ‘Now you got a ****** right inside City Hall. How do you like that? A ****** mayor.’

“And they put it right out in the sun yesterday in front of City Hall,” Breslin wrote. “We have a police force that is openly racist …”

Newsday reported on other instances of racial abuse. City Councilwoman Una Clarke, a petite black woman, was blocked from crossing Broadway “by a beer‐drinking, off‐duty police officer who said to his sidekick: ‘This ****** says she’s a member of the City Council.’ ”

Mary Pinkett, another black councilwoman, was trapped on the Brooklyn Bridge as her car was rocked back and forth by off‐duty officers. The two elderly passengers in her car were terrified.

Former NYPD officer and New York state senator Eric Adams, currently serving as Brooklyn’s borough president, told Newsday at the time that the demonstration was “right out of the 1950s: A drunk, racist lynch mob storming City Hall and coming in here to get themselves a ******.”

Dan...you are part of the problem!! You and those that share your deranged mentality.
You do however, help maintain a cheerful mood around here. Like a comedy act surrounded by smoke.

National Guard fired paint balls at family sitting on their porch during curfew. Curfew just says that you must stay off the streets ---- was there something about you can't be on your porch of your own property?

You can hear them say "light 'em up" before they shot the paint balls, although they were yelling "get inside!" as they were marching down the street.

I would certainly have gone inside, seeing armed guardsmen telling me to do so........ but when the fight or flight kicks in, (because someone is bound to have a temporary leave of their rational mind....and start firing back....). This is a recipe for disaster?

Law abiding homeowners who are unarmed and non aggressive are not gonna be putting up with being fired upon in their own homes on their porches. Unless martial law is declared.

Or is this what Trump was suggesting when he said to "dominate the streets" and "get tougher" ?

Not being able to even go out on your own porch is way worse than any covid
"stay at home" orders....and people were protesting those....

Not one of these individuals who you see in videos running out of stores with TV's and sneakers has George Floyd on his mind! In fact....they are headed home with their loot!
