Bush commutes Libby sentence - no jail time
So much for equal justice as we approach our July 4th brithday.
Apparently GW thought the sentence was excessive which was handed down by a Bush appointed judge. I guess he has no problem ignoring the jury, his own justice department, and his own appointed judge. Frankly, I thought Libby got off easily, but it appears Paris Hilton actually spent more time in jail than Libby will.
The man has lost whatever little crediblity he had left. Laughable.

That sounds like John Conyers press statement Sec. Don't get your panties too much in a bind as you'll recall Marc Rich & Company. Heck, they even got a full pardon rather than a commute.

Scooter Scoots!
Sec, bottom line, he didn't do anything.
He is as guilty as Hillary and Billy-Bob-Joe-Clem-Dog.
Pairs, a drunk driver, was a real threat to society, Libby not so.
But I feel your pain. Like getting DQ'd and 3-5 show bet.

Libby still has a $250,000 fine and 3 years probation.

Hey, Sec, you should try for a constitutional amendment to forever revoke that Executive privilege.
Did you ever stop to think why the framers had that written in to the constitution in the first place? (How silly I ask this, since all the evidence on this forum suggests that your experience in thinking is sorely wanting!)

As a left of center member of this board pointed out, listening to Sec is like listening to a mindless robot. His post sounds like a parrot of Shumer's statement. At least he stays on the message of the day.
With that aside, commuting the sentence was the gutless way out. Pardon or don't pardon. This was the chickensh*t way out.

This is Bush - half assed in everything.
But he might pardon after the election, after he wins the hearts and minds of the dems.

I expected the pardon to come on his last day in office. Might still happen.

Sen. Joe Biden, D-Delaware, and presidential candidate: WHAT DO YOU THINK? “Last week Vice President Cheney asserted that he was beyond the reach of the law. Today, President Bush demonstrated the lengths he would go to, ensuring that even aides to Dick Cheney are beyond the judgment of the law. It is time for the American people to be heard — I call for all Americans to flood the White House with phone calls tomorrow expressing their outrage over this blatant disregard for the rule of law.”

As much as it pains the liberals, a pardon is a part of the judical process, Joe Biden or no Joe Biden.
Get over it. You'll live longer.

At least he had the balls to do this. I am surprised.
Sec, how does it feel to have Bush's finger shoved up your ass?
I can't wait to read the posts at DU........

As I understand it to be a commuted sentence not a pardon, the former being a better example as it completely wipes the account off any records.

I stand corrected. It is a lessening of the sentence. The conviction stands.
He'll likely never practive before the bar again.
Of coarse, he'll end up in some law firm because of his connections. How much you wanna bet some law firm snaps him up and pays him a hiring bonus of, oh, something like $250,000?

The way the libs are squealing, I'd say Bush probably used something a lot bigger than a finger.
