There was a big protest recently in Irvine with residents essentially stating build a wall, they are not us, etc regarding holess shelters. Was not alas right wing white folks but a diverse group predominatly Asian. Will link when i get home.

What could go wrong with having one's children share the backyard with someone who could be depressed, or psychotic, or on drugs or alcoholic, or a pedophile. Not all homeless fall in those categories, but a lot do.
As much as it pains me to agree with JustRalph, this is a dumb idea.

That day will come only in your paranoid mind.

To voluntarily take someone into your home to live under your roof is one thing but to turn a neighborhood into a "shanty" town by erecting cheaply made structures in people's backyards, and thereby sharply diminish property values is quite another.

Because I object to this plan does not mean that I would object to a properly run, staffed homeless shelter in my neighborhood.

Look what is happening in the Grand Socialist Utopia we call Sweden. The government is literally forcing Swedes to take in Muslim immigrants.
Haven't I always maintained that Socialism is nothing less than Communism Lite? And private property ownership has never been popular in any communist state.

In California it is virtually impossible to evict a tenant for any reason so,
this program will lead to the government foreclosing on many of the properties that are used for homeless housing.
Within a few months many property owners will begin receiving summonses and fines for filth, roaches and rodents. The property owners will be unable to keep up with the maintenance needs of the tenants and eventually lose their homes.

Yup. The homeless are not the most hygiene friendly bunch, and they also have high incidence of severe mental illness. 25% of homeless have severe mental illness as compared to 6% of the general population.

I also would never allow the homeless near my children. While only 6% of sex offenders in CA were homeless, they account for 19% of new sex crimes.
