A lot of people forget the role he played in the Vietnam movie, The Boys in Company C, where he also played a Marine Drill Sergeant. Nobody did it better than him. 74 seems too young these days. My flag has been lowered to half mast.

In "Full Metal Jacket", Ermey was only going to be a technical adviser but when director Stanley Kubrick saw a video tape Ermey made about how a DI would do his job as a guide for whatever actor was going to play the role, Kubrik instead offered him the role and even allowed Ermey to write most of his own dialogue, unusual since Kubrick was a notorious control freak. He was one of those character actors who always made any movie he was in just a little better. Ronald Lee Ermey.

Did you write this? Because if you did, it was a really nice piece of writing.

From Breitbart:

Quote:
Actor R. Lee Ermey, who died at 74 of pneumonia Sunday morning, was Exhibit A in the New Hollywood Blacklist. After criticizing Barack Obama in 2010, Ermey’s thriving film career immediately dried up. Even after apologizing, he was ostracized, fired by GEICO insurance and never did another commercial. After disappearing completely for a few years, he managed to appear in a couple of C-grade reality shows in the last few years of his life.

Not only that, but I don't believe him when he says he voted for Obama.

Ermey was doing TV in the years 2003-2010. He had 2 regular series on the History Channel.

Hard to argue with that kind of detailed factual information.

Doing reality TV on the History channel is not the same as doing Hollywood movies or series TV. Face it. Basically Ermey was a one trick pony. By 2010 there were plenty of younger actors who could do what he did.

As for him voting for Obama, why would an avowed conservative military lifer vote for Obama? Particularly when Obama's opponent was military hero and conservative John McCain.

Maybe he bought into the liberal bullshit spin that McCain was about to die any minute?

You remember when the liberal media demanded to pour over McCain's medical records because he was on death's doorstep, right?

They did the same when Hillary collapsed in the streets of NYC, oh, wait a minute....
