Lot of Northern Dancers this year. Definitely thinking about betting one and Storm Cat line and UAE Derby jinx and all!

Emphasis on wise..... here's hoping he makes the gate.

What if Justify crushes Bold Doro in the Santa Anita Derby? A huge favorite w/all of these angles against-this could get fun!

I use a rating system that adds or deducts for trip, class, pace and bias.
it added up to about 10 points for me 106-10=96 rating. So thats his rating going into the race for me, will probably be middle of the pack but I guess we will see.

If Loyola can go to the final four a 16 beats a one and the Cubs can win a World Series. Anything can happen in the Derby.

My mind could be changed with the rest of the preps but if the Derby was being run today this is where my money will be. I never usually like any horse going into this race either. I think Mendelssohn is a different horse and there are some good ones this year. I know this one will not be bet as much as others too which seals the deal for me. I think 4 horses can win this derby but this one will be the best price. Barring the unforeseen I'm betting him.

That would be fun! I don't think it will happen though. But tough race after a lengthy layoff you never know. Feels good to have derby fever! I try to resist but at some point I can't help it!

Who is he?
I think it's between 3 horses:
Justify, Magnum Moon and Mendelssohn.

Mendelssohn's final 3/16 and projected final 1/4
Mendelssohn went six furlongs of the UAE Derby in 1:11 4/5 and he reached the mile mark in 1:36 1/5 and finished the 9 1/2 furlongs in 1:55 1/5. Therefore his final 3/16 is 19 flat. That's a very good final 3/16. I would say he qualifies strongly on that performance and if the race was 1/2 a furlong shorter at 9 furlongs he probably would have done the last 3/8 in 37 2/5.
Mendelssohn ran into another dimension in the UAE Derby.
