NYRA insanity continues

Latest issue of Indian Charlie states Jason Blewitt has been fired
by NYRA/Chris Kay

Jason has been hired by Stronach Group's XBTV Group network
and Gulfstream Park.

Once again an insane decision t o cut a great young commentator
and keep an insane leader's salary rollling for the 2017 year.

I'm betting TVG incorporates Jason as a commnetator on
the GP simulcast with , perhaps Caton,

I'm so happy for Jason

Yes, I agree. NYRA Blewitt. You can't teach someone to be genuinely nice, sincere, positive, bubbly and passionate.

Plain stupid.

I wonder just how many players will now switch over to Xpressbet as an ADW......

Geniuses those NYRA execs.

If you're posting on this board , to me you're either a fan and/or a horseplayer. NO fan or horseplayer should ever be on the side of a decision that HURTS the game many of us love.

Simply unacceptable.

Hmmmm...hasn't Ernie been around and working with NYRA forever? And Anthony Stabile has been around forever too, although not necessarily working with NYRA, but he's been a NY guy for as long as I can remember, so I don't get how he can be one of the "tvg guy's" guy.

You must be privy to some awesome inside info...

I really don't think that selecting Stabile and/or Munick to do the morning show is what is irking people about NYRA....is it?? Aren't there so many larger issues??

Jason Blewitt

Bigger issues?

NYRA should be focusing on ways to attract the younger generation,
and one way was to have a young, dynamic ,and knowledgeable commentator along with TLG and the MIG to present their
honest thoughts on televised races, which I felt was generally
transparent.

Imploding this show is exactly why NYRA is doing their best
to alienate experienced /older fans and loseany possibility of new
fans who could aldso be future owners and breeders.

Wishing the beat to Jason in Florida, I am sure he will be a valuable
asset to Mr. Stronach's racing operation.

Really? How long had Jason been doing TV for NYRA? A LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG ASS time...

How did NYRA do in attracting the "younger generation," as you put it, in all that time Jason was on the air? Obviously, not too well if you're posting today that NYRA should be focusing on attracting the younger generation....thus, it appears, Jason had little to no impact in attracting said "younger generation" all those years he was on the NYRA airwaves.

Just sayin'

My take on the above quotes FWIW:

Widely held or prevailing anti-horseplayer attitudes held by horsemen, track management, career politicians, and racing commissioners hurt the game.

Not all horsemen, members of track management, career politicians, and racing commissioners have anti-horseplayer attitudes.

But speaking from personal experience after interacting with them - I have to say that (sadly) most do. Sometimes without even being aware of it.

Most horseplayers have the ability recognize such attitudes instantly. And many have walked away from the game, or have scaled back their participation or amount wagered in the game as a result.

XBTV happens to do an excellent job.

Might even be a step up.
