Hurst's Horse Race Analyzer (HHRA Pro)
Just wondering if anybody else ever used, or even heard of it? I got this software off ebay years ago. It was based on the old Mattel hand-held pocket computer. It uses bris single files. I've recently dug it up and tried to install the latest version I had on a win 8.1 computer - no go. I did manage to get the initial version to work though.
I never realized how much info it gave. It's computed picks were surprisingly quite good. Even gives some betting strategies.
Again, I'm just curious if any of you guys heard of it. TIA

No on HHRA
But.. completely forgot about that Mattel Horse Race Analyzer. Parents gave me one for Christmas back in 79/80. If I remember correctly, did a 1/2 decent job in class handicapping.
Found a few on eBay.
Cheers!

I never had the analyzer, but HHRA also does a '1/2 decent job'.

I actually still have the Mattel version from back in the 80's. It wheezes chalk most of the time but does find a few good plays. It is also a bit dated as the Mattel version will only allow purses up to 999,999 so the million + purses of today won't work unless you are happy putting in 999,999 and that also goes for earnings as well.

Brings back memories
In case anyone is interested that used to own,or still does, the Mattel Horse Race Analyzer, here is some flowcharts and images from the US Patent office I found on Google for this cool little device. Mine is still in the original box in perfect condition.

I couldn't get the Java version to work either (win8.1). I only could get the original 2.0 version to work. None of the updates would work. I would get an 'ordinal missing' error when I tried to use the updated versions.

I have v2.17, also. It runs fine on Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I still use it for MCL with 3 or fewer FTS. It will surprise you with the FTS selections. I look for FTS in the top 3 @ 5/1 or better in the 1st or 2nd spot, and 8/1 if in the 3rd slot. Funny thing is, I had a conversation with Douglas Hurst, the creator of the program, and he tells me that it can't pick FTS, as there is nothing for it to figure. But my figures tell a different story.
