But as a fan, it's very boring to see these parades so often.
Yeah...Some of the longer races are not very exciting.
It depends.....

golden rule = those who have the gold, make the rules...

So, do we 'watch list' Imperia (sixth race), or does the possibility of more hard held, soft splits, make that a bad bet-back?

Her loss in the BC in 2014, cost me the Pick 6 Hit 5/6....

I bet her off of Javier Castalleno's brutal ride (and she overcame it) going into the BC.

Her loss at AQU was interesting as the winner (of the N1X) came back with 2 very nice efforts in GRADE 1'S!!!

Her trip today was brutal. To answer your question, of course.

BUT, she might come back at 3/5, get another brutal parade of choking at the SPA and run a tough luck 2nd.

Musical jockeys and 3 months off after the last race, but today's effort could certainly be one to build on.

May not be much price, even with a '3rd' today.

I bet her too, after the 6F split I thought she had no shot. She ran very gamely up the rail to just miss.

That's actually a horseman's bar bet. Heads-up whoever is behind at the poles buys the other a beer.

That's funny!

On a similar note, I was watching 1 trainer and 1 owner (the owner doesn't use the trainer) watching a race last week at Belmont. Just coincidentally next to them as the race went off.

They were cursing up a storm to each other about the grabs.

Trainer said to owner: Why do they keep grabbing SO MUCH?

I interrupted: Because you keep giving these clowns a leg up.

Now, strangling. I don't see that.
When a horse wants to go and is throwing his head about or has a choppy action, yes the rider is trying to control a horse that wants to run off.
Most often though, I see horses on the front end of routes relaxed and smooth gaited. Nothing wrong with that.
The way I see it is the jocks laying off the pace can do whatever they want. If they think the pace is too slow, they can go to the front and make a faster pace.
Don't think they run mile races on the inner.

At the end of the day, it makes no difference how they run the race. As handicappers, we have to figure that out.
Question...do you bet? Not like have you bet ever, but recently, have you been playing Belmont or any other track?

I don't remember the last time (besides this year) that horses supposedly came home in sub 22 in Turf Routes.

Why not just make every Turf Route a 2F turf sprint. That way we can eliminate the guess work as to who will have the advantage in these crazy choke a thons and just fast forward to the only quarter that these jocks want to run in, the last one.

Not talking about any 1 race in particular. Just speaking overall.
You'd hate euro races, most times they just run in one big group and then sprint home.

Maybe the us jocks are finally wising up.

I've watched those races. For some reason they seems more fair than here. Maybe because the turns are wider at some tracks or the configurations are different. In the USA , the turns are tighter and the stretch run is shorter.

I miss the days at Belmont where you had to be real GOOD to wire a field.

If it were up to me, that grass would never be paved or shaved.

DH - OT, but how about posting some selections during the Spa meet?

No doubt. Really doesn't matter about the distance, since it is a jog until 800 meters or so out and then a rush home. Bet on a race a St. Cloud, seems like 20 something horses, they came out of the turn and it looked like the charge of the light brigade. I had no idea where the ones I was rooting for were, had to wait until the numbers got posted. Cool thing about that track, there was a bunch of big ole trees right in the middle of the area where the riders pulled up.

I have never understood why turf races here are run so differently pace wise than dirt races.
