Good news.
It will hardly make up for the barbarity inflicted on civilians but at least the administration is demonstrating that there will be a cost paid by the Assad regime. Hopefully they take a few airfields out of operation for a period of time.

At least there are consequences for crossing lines this time.

With President Trump it is expected that you know where the red line is and what will happen to you if you cross it.

I am PROUD of this President for this. I certainly hope that liberals, who should feel compassion for the Syrians gassed, can at least muster enough fairness to be happy with Trump's response.

I hate to ever be the one that has to stick up for Obama, but it seems to have been forgotten that he was the one that actually wanted to get involved. He even tried to do it right - through Congress - and both the people and their aforementioned representatives wanted little to nothing to do with it. I don't think that it was something that Obama really wanted to do, but I also don't think that he wanted to look a fool trying to sell the idea of intervention and finding few buyers.

Obama simply "postured", knowing the outcome was already predetermined with little to no downside for him. The line was crossed, Obama just took 2 paces back and drew another line, nothing forgotten....

Its a relatively nominal action but it will serve a lot of purposes. The equivalent of treading extremely lightly but showing everyone you have a big stick and know how to swing it.

Bingo.
Once in a while you have to show the big stick.
And it wasn't a big one. It was an attack on the very airbase that did the deed, and we made sure it was decimated.

I assure you it was hardly decimated. In terms of actual strategic accomplishments this strike didn't really do anything. It mostly just sent a message which is fine for now. I agree you do have to show off the big stick.

This is what the Russians said about the chemical attack in.Syria.
"Russian officials, citing their own monitoring systems, say the Syrian airstrike hit weapons-storage facilities under the control of insurgents, including a “terrorist warehouse” where they were making “projectiles stuffed with chemical agents” to send to fighters in Iraq.
Russian officials say insurgents making chemical weapons in a facility destroyed by the Syrian airstrike are to blame. Russia’s deputy envoy to the United Nations said on Wednesday that Islamic militants fighting the government of President Bashar al-Assad have used chemical weapons before, including chlorine, mustard gas and nerve agents, in Iraq and Syria. And he said insurgents used sarin on residents of a Damascus suburb in 2013."
The usual BS to cover Assad crimes against humanity.
This action by Trump sends a strong message to Syria, Iran and Russia who are all complicit in this area to clean up their act.

There lots of hardened targets according to the news. I wouldn't have wanted to be there.
