BTW, GC has decently healthy options. Not as good as home cooked but fairly healthy

He’s just trying to take a dig at me…….

You’re right, we have lots of customers who come in for healthy stuff. We have a gym right behind our location that gets 10% off with their gym ID card. Lots of salad bar to go post workout and others who dine in high protein style.

We also have some pescatarian types because we serve 3-5 different seafood options depending on the day of the week.

We also have diabetic options menu where the items are sugar free-stevia stuff.

But if you want to pig out on whatever you want….we get lots of that too.

If you Google “Golden Corral healthy items” you get lots of hits on what to eat and what not to eat. Our salad bar is open from the time we unlock our doors every day (even at breakfast) and it’s a huge variety

We have kid favs too. Icee machine-Gummie Bears and soft serve ice cream. Many locations have cotton candy. Our county frowns on cotton candy machines because of the way they work and trouble cleaning them. We got rid of ours post pandemic along with the chocolate fountain which was a huge blessing for us.

Click on the link above to see our menu-breakfast-lunch-dinner. I’m sure you will be surprised how much stuff we make every day. Some of its rotated, but 90% of these menu items are there every day

What kind of omelette is shown on the breakfast menu picture? At first I thought it was a veggie omelette, but it I think I see bacon. I have a vegetarian friend, sometimes he can be a PITA to travel with. I believe he is the world's only morbidly obese vegetarian. Do you have hot salsa available? That omelette needs some. What is called hot salsa definitely varies by region in the states. What is labeled hot here is probably between mild and medium in SoCal. I was shocked, for the first time since I moved here a couple months ago some extra hot showed up in the chain super market. It is Pace Ghost Pepper Habanero, I was amazed when they kept restocking it. To me hot will make you sweat on a cold day and the mouth burn lasts 5 minutes if you eat enough of it.

Are those omelettes a custom order or can you assemble your own?

My wife and I eat Golden Corral almost once a week. I see mostly other seniors there. Good stuff. We eat the Early Bird special for a late lunch. I hear that the OU offensive line used to come in and clean them out of steak.

Hardly eat Mcdonalds but when on the road driving 5-6 hours sometimes its only option -- much cheaper on the app via deals. I was able to get 2 large fries, 2 mcdoubles, happy meal and drink for $10.

Five guys is garbage...been there once, never again. nuff said

When I played college football the team meal before a road trip was at a long since defunct buffet chain Sir George's Smorgasbord. I am not sure when they went out of business, Ralph might remember them, I think they were SoCal only but had multiple locations. I wonder if we got charged higher rates. I don't seem to recall steaks. I probably should have got into competitive eating, at #220 I could out eat 300# lineman easily. Even though it was D3 and late 70's early 80's we had some 300 pounders. They had to lose money on us, unless they charged us double.

At least with McDonalds it is usually consistent quality if you want to call it that. I have found Carl's Jr/Hardees and Burger King to be quite variable. I am not down with a stale bun and the cheese slice cold. Hard half green tomato slices are also lame.

Half the fries at Five Guys are too greasy to eat. I've probably eaten at Five Guys maybe 4 times in my life. Too expensive even before inflation started. As someone else said, I can make a great bacon cheeseburger at home for $5 and can have a beer with it too.

Of course you do.

I thought that was about the guy who said he was making it at home.

My error.

Unless I BBQ with wood I can't seem to get the meat flavor of a burger joint.
I know back 40 years ago restaurants could get their hands on coffee, tea, meat and produce that you could not buy in a grocery store. I learned that by working in purchasing at a Hilton Hotel and making deliveries to restaurants they owned. I always thought they got bargains buying bulk, but on items where freshness counted they were paying more and often getting better grades. We had deliveries of fresh fish caught 120 miles away in the Pacific Ocean arriving right as the sun was coming up, every morning.

I am sure Ralph can fill us in if that is still the case.

It's Texas........we have a couple different kinds of Hot Sauce. On every table, most of the time. Sometimes it's still hard to get. supply chain issues

We have 6 different barbecue sauces all the time too.

The omelet station is a build your own on request. That shot on the website...... I have no idea. We build it as requested.

Great choice.....best deal in town anywhere. Early Bird!

I have had high school teams come in and devour more than their share.

I had a coach from Texas A&M come in and eat 7 steaks in about 2 hours...........let's just say there was no profit in that meal. He was a big dude

Back in my early 20s I had this friend named Greg who was a big guy. Maybe 340 and about 5'8".

Needless to say, Greg was a big eater.

One day, Greg invites me to lunch at an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet. I'd never seen one before. Back then, AYCE places in south Florida were rare, and Chinese AYCE was more rare than a unicorn.

We went in, and while we were eating, I saw the manager, a rotund man of obvious Chinese descent, eyeballing us pretty hard. I asked Greg why and he said, "I've been eating here every day for about a week. Sometimes 2 meals."

I actually felt sorry for the guy and got the lesson of a lifetime: Aside from the obvious --- never own an AYCE restaurant.

That lesson was: "There is no such business that does not present the occasional losing proposition. You must take the occasional bad with the good."

The manager had clearly never learned this rule and just agonized watch Greg eat his profits.

When he could stand it no more, the manager came over to the table, and picked up Greg's plate, saying, "ENOUGH! ENOUGH! YOU GO NOW! YOU NO COME BACK!"
