We did without a lot of things. The main reason he did all that was 100% so my parents didn't have to send us to Baltimore Public Schools. My parents are both gone now, but I'll never forget what they did for us and it made all the difference in the outcome of my life. They knew, even then, the schools were terrible. I graduated almost 40 years ago. This isn't anything new.
I still miss him. Loved hearing about his life and your family. He was the real deal old school family man. He loved to brag on his kids too.
