Barns usually stake their grooms and barn help on wins.
One trainer I had billed me an additional 2% on win purses only for groom tip in addition to their trainer commission. Other trainers I used covered it on their own.
I brought donuts many times up and they've always been appreciative. A few times I've giving a $50 or $100 to the groom back at the barn while the horse was cooling out after the test barn.
These guys and gals work 365 days a year at all crazy times taking care of the majestic animals we sometimes take for granted. They deserve it!!!
