Thanks LDH, my bad on True Charm. The amount of scratches had the effect of lowering odds on Alter Boy, who won but only paid $6.30. I think it was Randy Giles who wrote "sometimes a horse runs it race, sometimes the race runs the horse". Same thing happened today to bettors in this race, sometimes the odds dictate how you have to bet the race. At about 5 mins to post Alter Boy was 5-2 and with the short field, met my minimum odds to place a win bet. At post time the odds dropped to 2-1 and I canceled my bet. The short field, odds, and lack betting options ended up killing a winning pick, at least for me.
