I understand your frustration proximity. Don't you think one of the leading reasons for the permanent closure is lack of dealer availability?
And rather than have dedicated poker room dealers, don't they rotate in the dealers from table games, and don't all the casino room dealers collectively share their tips?
I am pretty sure that one of the main causes for delayed re-opening of the CT poker room after the pandemic was staff issues. It took them much longer than anticipated to solicit and hire adequate poker room staff to minimally operate the poker room.
Even today, CT remains closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and on other nights, it is a common practice to deliberately close down one or more active/full table several hours in advance of closing time. All of this is done to conserve dealer availabilities for other days. (Dealers are limited to the number of hours they can work each week, pending their employment classification.).
