I was watching NFL Playbook show last week and they showed how the Patriots run their plays. So many teams play zone defense (which often results in blown coverage that gives up a huge play), the Patriots play good old fashioned man to man coverage. On offense, the Patriots use the fullback to lead block on almost every running play, very old school. They showed how the fullback takes out one linebacker, and Gronk takes out another.
Like Lombardi's great Packer teams, Belichick's teams do the fundamentals better. They don't miss blocks, they don't miss tackles, they don't make stupid mistakes, and they beat teams that have way more talent than they do. It's pretty amazing.
