Not disagreeing - there's also a yin and yang here. We all remember particular race calls. Chic Anderson with the "tremendous machine" call re Secretariat is one of mine. The "freight train" call re Forego. Etc.
But it took the combination of a performance on the track plus the race caller having a good day.
Counter evidence is the "The Wife Doesn't Know" versus "My Wife Knows Everything" call by Larry Collmus. That was epic in its own right. As I said upthread, I have no problem with Collmus - just think we've seen unfair stuff re John Imbriale.
