Quite common. Newton published
Principles of Mathematics before he was 30. He went on to study alchemy and theology. Einstein published his Special Theory of Relativity at age 26 and the General Theory 10 years later. After that he contributed little to physics.
By the way, based on his Biblical studies Newton predicted the end of the world in 2060.
