Many are unemployed for the same reason that many more people would be unemployed if the Minimum Wage were raised to $20hr.
When Union pressure pushes up wages well beyond what they should be, given the tax base, the demand for labor goes down in Unionized industries, creating a glut in non-unionized industries.
Those "Scabs" are just the side effect of overpriced union labor. That's the real class warfare. Those on the inside, and those on the outside looking in.
Let's also consider that gov't workers, in this case teachers, don't really pay taxes, as their salaries ARE taxes.
If a teacher didn't get taxes taken out of his check, the government would have more money; if a private sector worker didn't, the government would have less.
See the difference?
