I'd prefer to see a breakdown of field sizes by race type.
For example, Saratoga carded 216 turf events out of a total of 405 races. 38 were rained off. As we know, turf races tend to have larger fields. Saratoga lost 17.8% of its turf races. Those fields can sometimes get cut down from as many as 12 starters to as few a 4 or 5. So , we should be careful to put the numbers into context.
DelMar has no such issues with losing turf races because, To borrow a song lyric, "It Never Rains in Southern California".....
