Dangerous to form betting decisions in the heat of the moment.
There's a tendency to try to win back the money if you lose, and a tendency to warp reality to fit your 'woulda coulda shoulda' when you win small.
'Post mortems' are important just wait until you cool off emotionally, and keep in mind the tendency to be biased.
If something like a Pick-4 woulda coulda shoulda pops into your head, do a legitimate workthrough for that later while consciously avoiding biases and assumptions that the results were set in stone. Sometimes you work through a sequence after the race and realize you shoulda played. Sometimes you work it through and it was an expensive ticket that benefited from a random long shot in the sequence, and wasn't really a smart bet after all.
