In general, I totally agree.
Capot won the 1949 Belmont because of Ted Atkinson's whip, and Holy Bull won the 1994 Travers due to Mike Smith's.
But usually, the rider asks the horse to run and maybe taps them twice and from then on they are going as fast as they can.
