Yes they actually did have a good stretch but to many casuals/general public, they actually dont know horses die in this sport so for the people who would casually vote on a ballot question, it's a big deal.
Santa Anita needed to stop before it went mainstream and they didnt.
I've said t before that this sport does not have the political will or economic power to beat a ballot question. It's just not that important.
