China needs the food. Also, China owns Smithfield foods, the largest producer of U.S. pork. China put tariffs on its own agricultural products . I guess they realized their mistake.
China has devalued its currency, prioritized food purchases over raw goods purchases, cut their industrial purchases from Germany and France, hurting the EU economy, and is watching its own economy shrink, while its financial markets decline.
Tariff wars are easy to win.
