The President is steering an increasingly abandoned vessel of state...IMO, there is cause for great concern here...I know very little about Jared (as most Americans), but I have to think there are way more competent persons that could be COS...but then again, I don’t even know what a COS does...care to bring me up to speed, Margie...?

I have no doubt that 'trust' is first and foremost on Trump's mind, in deciding who his next COS will be. Can anyone blame him? Maybe Ivanka would the best choice! Maybe both she and Jared together...no rules on the position, and neither are taking a salary for their work in the administration, so no one can complain about double cost.
I'm sure that you know how to research, VTG, but here it is in a nutshell:
The responsibilities of the chief of staff are both managerial and advisory and can include the following:
- Select key White House staff and supervise them;
- Structure the White House staff system;
- Control the flow of people into the Oval Office;
- Manage the flow of information;
- Protect the interests of the president;
- Negotiate with Congress, other members of the executive branch, and extra-governmental political groups to implement the president's agenda; and
- Advise the president on various issues, including telling the president what he/she does not want to hear.
