According to a reporter at the Washington Blade who sat with the comedian during the dinner and witnessed the “awkward” ordeal. Kevin Naff said that Griffin was invited to the event by the Blade, an LGBT news publication.
Griffin reportedly accosted Deputy White House Press Secretary Hogan Gidley as he tried to squeeze by their table.
“How do you sleep at night?” she asked him.
“Very well, thank you,” Gidley responded.
When Griffin replied that she doubted his claim, he said, “Are we really going to do this?”
Naff said Griffin shot back, “Yes we are, suck my d**k! No, really, suck my d**k!”
They had a tense tete-a-tete until Gidley ended the interaction by saying that he was going to drink his beer, of the Mexican brand Tecate, “before we build the wall and you can’t get these anymore.”
Griffin responded with a “F**k you.”
