This is indeed very sad news. Rich has been a fixture here on PaceAdvantage from the beginning (posted as
rrbauer). Always a very generous person, and always fighting the good fight for horseplayers.
I think we all remember his highly effective Boycott Magna campaign. He took the website down after it was no longer necessary, but for those who want to reminisce, you can find some of it here:

Rich knew exactly what it took to make the powers that be stand up and take notice. What a void his passing leaves in this regard. HANA could use a lot more guys like Rich Bauer on their side. We all could.
I'm going to miss seeing Rich at Saratoga, drinking a beer with him, and doping out the next winner. He knew his stuff inside and out.
I'm really very saddened and stunned by this news. God Bless Rich Bauer and God Bless his family and friends.
