Valiant Elegance (5-1) Was coming off a very poor effort on the dirt and a tiring run just before on a yielding track. The summer break couldn't come at a better time for him to get recharged. Drew in here on the rail and broke a step slow from the gate, raced just behind the first up lone speed with slightly quicker fractions than par, moved to the leader with 120 metres to go and quickly ran away from him and the rest of the field for an easy win. Picked up 8 rating points which will keep him in Class 3 again, hopefully Hewitson stays on board, these two are an ATM when they get together.

Fa Fa (7-2) Was bet down as the 2-1 favourite after being away for 119 days, loves running with Ho on his back and 1.650 metres at Happy Valley. In a field with only one front running type that was allowed to set it at a snail's pace on the front end. Made a move to the front runner but just couldn't make up the difference late due to the pace disadvantage.
