I was there in 1994 for the Chula Vista Handicap (now the Clement L Hirsch), which featured Paseana and Exchange at 1/5. Almost 27,000. Felt like we were packed in like sardines, and the infield was open. When I heard about these Opening Day crowds of 40,000+ I couldn't imagine where they put the people!
