Yeah sorta. Ranks were weird. 5 Stars didn't exist until WWII in the traditional sense. Pershing was "above" them so...
The promotions to 5 Star were mostly pomp and circumstance for dealing with our allies.
Interesting figure though. Winfield Scott is another.
