I too hate the "yelling over each other" format, FWIW, and I speak as someone who used to pay a lot of attention to MNR and would appreciate hearing Mark P's views, right or wrong, about races on WV Derby day.
Not trying to thread-jack, but what is the thinking behind putting so much MNR purse money into this day? It's the same at fellow West Virginia track Charles Town with their big Classic day (or days, if you count their big WV-bred day). Always struck me as incongruous to be watching $5,000 claimers racing for $13,000 (or whatever) as the MNR or CT staple and then have a single day with six figure stakes race purses.
